** ATTENTION **
DEBIT CARD and ATM USERS
Legislative changes went into effect on August 15, 2010.
Please review the information below and contact us if you have any questions.
Have you ever accidentally overdrawn your account when paying for groceries with you debit card, or needed to withdraw more money than was in your account for an emergency?
This is when our overdraft service*, entitled Member Privilege, from Midcoast FCU can prevent these situations from becoming an embarrassing or costly experience. When overdraft service applies, Midcoast FCU has the discretion to cover your overdraft should you inadvertently overdraw your account at the ATM, or with debit card purchases you make at a store, online, or by telephone.
New legislation went into effect on August 15, 2010. We are no longer allowed to pay your ATM or debit card overdraft unless you tell us you would like this service, entitled Member Privilege.
If you do not complete the overdraft opt-in form, we will assume that you are opting out of our overdraft service. Should you not opt-in; your debit card purchase or ATM withdrawals will be denied when you do not have enough money in your account.
Households with Members in good standing, who have our Debit or CU24 ATM card, should have received a mailing the week of June 7th. The envelope included an Opt-In form that could be returned in the provided postage paid envelope or at a Midcoast FCU branch location. If you did not receive this mailing, click here for the Opt-In form.
You may also Opt-In by calling us toll free at 1-877-964-3262.
*We charge a $25.00 fee each time we pay an overdraft with our Member Privilege service. If you cause an overdraft, you must pay the overdraft and fee to bring your account positive within 30 calendar days. Presently, we will pay overdrafts up to a limit of $400.00 including overdraft fees. Overdrafts are paid at our discretion. Payment of an overdraft is not guaranteed.
